On December 27, 2020, President Donald Trump signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA Act) into law, supplying colleges and universities with funds to assist students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Multnomah University was informed it was eligible to receive $738,474, of which at least $216,509 is to be used for direct financial assistance to students. The university received these funds on March 8, 2021.
To be eligible for CRRSA Act funding, a student must have been enrolled in a semester disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority is to be given to those who demonstrate exceptional need. Under the terms of the law, a student must meet eligibility requirements for federal aid, therefore, undocumented, international students, and those who are in the United States under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are ineligible. Students who have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have met eligibility requirements were considered for funding. Students who did not complete a FAFSA, but could be eligible, were awarded a flat amount.
To be eligible for funding through the CRRSA Act, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be enrolled on or after the date this Act was signed into law (December 27, 2020)
- Meet eligibility for federal financial aid
- Be enrolled in an eligible degree-seeking program of study
- Be enrolled at least half-time; for undergraduate students, at least 6 credits; for graduate and seminary students, at least 4 credits
